First of all, just want to make sure all my readers know I am still alive.  I haven’t posted anything in quite some time.  During that time I have missed things like IntPiPoMo 2012, but life just happens that way sometimes I guess.

I hit 90 on my hunter, Illayeria, about a month ago.  (I am taking forever to level toons this time.)  I still haven’t even got her to LFR level, but I did make some cool leveling screenshots to share.

For the first time ever since I started playing WOW in 2004, I decided to level an alt to max (Meridia- holy priest) before my main toon (Chatmay- warlock).  It was a very hard choice for me to make, but I needed my priest to 90 for raiding.

Somehow I have finally made it to 90 as shadow spec.  These are some screenshots I made from 85-90:

saz, screenshot, vanilla, vanilla wow, warcraft, world of warcraft, WOW

Many in the blogging community are still working on their Transmogolympics outfits.  Meanwhile, I have been neglecting my blog!  So time for another 15 Days of Screenshots episode, from the World of Saz challenge.

This time I have selected-

13. A Fond Memory
Shed a little tear, grin a little grin, and show us an image that invokes a fond memory for you.

Here is the screenshot I have selected for…

VANILLA WOW

Onyxia down at level 60

Lately I have been reminiscing all about Vanilla WOW.  It’s funny how you can miss things that really made the game harder and more difficult to deal with, but I do.

People all the time say to me- why would you miss vanilla when you had to travel on foot everywhere and take twice as long to do every thing?  Well, that is exactly why I miss it….

It took me at least two-three months to get to level 60.  This is opposed to the current leveling to max time of a week or less… I really felt like I was getting my money’s worth from the game!  Plus there was a feeling of exploration and achievement when you even discovered a zone which is missing from the game now.

Then we raided for a very long time after that.  Our guild alliance wasn’t even big enough to do 40-man raids, so we worked our butts off trying to down Zul-Gurub and Ahn-Qiraj bosses without any Molten Core gear.  It was very difficult!  But that is what kept you coming back week after week in my opinion.

For the latter parts of Lich King and Cataclysm expansions, 85s basically just stand around in Stormwind while they que for dungeons or get ready for raids.  But back in Vanilla WOW, there were tons of things to work on besides just getting raid drops.  You could upgrade your tier gear, do timed runs of Stratholme for the mount chance, get your Cenarion rep up in Silithus or your Naxx rep (whatever faction that was) up in Plaguelands… the list goes on and on. (And yes, I am aware that there is plenty to do in the game like this currently, but there is no real incentive to do anything anymore like that unless it involves an achievement or a mount!)

It’s not just missing the basic differences between now and then though, it’s little things that you remember.  Like how you had to make each person in a 25-man raid an individual healthstone or stack of mage food and water to trade them.  Class channels during raid.  Never having a druid in a raid, but always turning away rogues and hunters. Four-six hour (or even more) raids and even Alterac Valley battleground groups that took that long.  Guild loyalty. Looting etiquette in five-mans (even with pugs!)

So anyways, that is my rant for today.  I still miss Vanilla and more so every time they change WOW.  Guess that just makes me an old-timer.

Here is another entry from me for 15 Days of Screenshots list on World of Saz.

12. Inspiring Imagery
Show us something that inspires you within World of Warcraft. This can be a character, a person, scenery that leaves you in aw, or whatever it is that strikes a cord in you. The inspiration it creates can be anything as well: Has this character inspired you to roll a certain class? Does a certain zone make you long to write a story about your character adventuring through that particular area?

When I was a child, I would say I wanted to be an astronaut when I grew up.  Maybe that is why I like these two screenshots… they both feature planets or moons in the skyline.

I like the idea that a character is flying off on his or her mount surrounded by this planetary atmosphere.  I also like the streaks of light through the sky in the second shot.

Hubby in Netherstorm during BC

I think this is Hellfire Peninsula

Unfortunately I do not appreciate screenshots enough to write a story about anything, so you will have to make do with the pictures. lol.

Ironforge, priest, Raz, screenshot, screenshots, warcraft, world of warcraft, WOW

I am not known for doing blogger list assignments and rarely known for doing screenshot lists.  However, I saw the 15 Days of Screenshots list on World of Saz the other day.  I have to admit, a few of them sounded cool.

So I am not covering the entire list, but I will do a few of them for now.

#7 Best Screen Shot of the Year
Show us the best screen shot you believe that you have ever taken and why you think it is the best (content, meaning, how you framed it, etc…

My screenshots are usually just of guild events and such, so I thought I would pick one of my husband’s screenshots for this one.  Here are several shots actually from a “photo shoot” he did of his disc priest, Kester, in Ironforge:

I think these are really beautiful, but I wish he would have taken his UI off and key-binded the spells. 😦

OK so Halloween is long over.  But I had some Halloween-ish fun with a category for last night’s guild fashion show.

The holiday category required that you wear at least two pieces or more of holiday attire.  I didn’t want anyone to have the same costume as me, plus I was coming up with silly ideas…so I paired my Hallowed Helm with my Lovely Red Dress to make ~ HEADLESS CHATMAY!

I then googled “Headless Horseman story,” where I found the original text to “Rip Van Winkle & The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” by Washington Irving.  I skipped down a few paragraphs and used some of that text to rewrite the story.  This is what I came up with and told in a spooky voice on vent:

The dominant spirit of Stormwind Hollow and seeming to be the commander-in-chief of all its powers is – Headless Chatmay.

She is said by some to have been going on a hot date when an orc spy killed her and carried her head off as a cannon-ball…

(I threw pumpkin heads at four audience members)

Her haunts are not confined to the hollow but extend at times to the roads and even Northshire!

She apparently was buried there and rushes through the night in a hurry to get back to her grave.

(I summoned pumpkin soldiers and rode off on my warlock mount)

Here is a picture I made of Headless Chatmay.  I kind of cheated by making it in Gilneas, but it was daytime and I wanted a night-time or spooky look to it:

Headless Chatmay Terrorizing with her cleavage!

More fashion show coverage to come!

From Bloggers to Me: Sixth Challenge!

20 Monday Feb 2012

blogger, challenge, sixth, warcraft, world of warcraft, WOW

I don’t subscribe to a lot of blogs.  Mainly because I don’t like checking my email all the time (it’s a mess) or reading blogs there.  However, I do subscribe to a few, and I also often check my site stats to see where my readers are coming from.

So this week, I have been “tagged” by at least four WOW bloggers in what they are calling the “Sixth Challenge.”

I was tagged by:
1. Kamalia Et Alia
2. The Pugnacious Priest
3. Martha.net
4. Chronicles of Mia

The rules are:
1. Go into your image folder
2. Open the sixth sub-folder and choose the sixth image
3. Publish the image! (and a few words would not hurt, though I dare say I couldn’t stop a blogger from adding a few words of their own)
4. Challenge six new bloggers.
5. Link to them

This challenge excited me (kind of sad lol).  It really did!  What follows is a bit long, but here goes….

I went to my image folder, went to my 6th sub-folder…WTH? What is this folder I have never even heard of- IPOD PHOTO CACHE.  And since my Ipod has been broken forever, it was EMPTY!!!

I discovered this early on, and I even responded to Kamalia and Pugnacious that I couldn’t post a picture.  But I keep getting tagged!

So I looked around to see how I could do this, BUT:

I do not have six sub-folders in most of the places I store pictures! lol (also a mess)

I lost a ton of pictures on my computer recently btw trying to get them to an external drive that didn’t work right.

I went to a different pictures folder, and the 6th sub-folder was pictures my Mom accidentally put on my computer.

And then… I went past those (cheating I know), and the 6th subfolder/6th picture was of my Mom and family.  I have been ordered to never post any pictures of my Mom online, so that one was out too.

So, I am breaking the rules a bit.

OK so I am breaking the rules completely… I am kind of following Martha’s lead and picking where I actually store my pictures to show you.

Here is what I have:

Sixth Screenshot from My WOW Photobucket Folder:

Testing a new UI

This is my priest, Meridia, and a UI I was making for her.  This was still in test phase, and you can see I have lots of overlapping boxes at the time.

Sixth Screenshot from my WOW Screenshots Folder:

Guildies in Stormwind

This one is pretty funny.  Someone in my guild scheduled a guild photo on the calendar…the day before.  Needless to say, only a few showed up.  But to be fair, it would be hard to get all of my guildies on at one time anyways.

SEVENTH Picture in my Jennifer/Downloads Folder

Does this really need a caption?

I have the worst luck.  I really wanted to post the sixth picture, but it is artwork done by an friend who sells prints of it.  I don’t think he would appreciate me putting it here for everyone to download.  So I went with the seventh picture.

I had this Beatles photo because I wanted to compare a WOW screenshot I made to it…here is the screenshot (for a contest we did):

My Beatles shot

So, last but not least…I am tagging some new bloggers, some loyal readers/bloggers, and some bloggers that are back from writing breaks.  Click their links and show them some support!

1. Nightvyxen, Daughter of the Horde
2. Azeroth-Adventuring
3. A Sunnier Bear
4. The Daily Frostwolf
5. Cannot Be Tamed
6. It’s For My RP Spec!
