In what has to be the strangest/most bizarre costume I have ever come up with, my priest, Meridiane, attended the Anti-Drama Commonwealth’s Halloween party last week as THE POPE.

Surrounded by in Stormwind

I didn’t just come up with this idea to be anti-religious (or an extremist)… it was actually WOW developers that inspired the idea with their strange, pope-like  headpiece:

the Tyrannical Gladiator’s Mooncloth Helm  !!!

side view with mace

front view of “The Pope”

I paired it with these items for the Pope look:

Bright Mantle
Imbued Infantry Cloak
Elegant Robes….
Vagaries of Time (mace)
Brightcloth Gloves
Tyrannical Gladiator’s Cord of Meditation
and Boots of the Blowing Wind

I will be submitting my idea to Dress Up! by Batinna for her Halloween category.  She posted this blog contest a while back, but I did not see it until this past week, and she is still taking posts here and on twitter in 15 different categories.  Then she will be posting different ones she picks in transmog videos.

End of Summer Guild Party

My guild on Terokkar, The East Kingdom, had an end-of-summer party a few weeks ago.  Sorry I am just now getting around to writing about it….

The party location was the beach at Bittertide Lake, which is West of Glimmering Pillar in Sholazar Basin.

Start of the party

After the usual booze hand-outs, we started the party with a Heavy Leather Ball Contest.  Everyone was given a heavy leather ball.  The objective was to throw balls like crazy, and the person with the fewest balls left in their bags would be the winner.

This is the first time I have attempted to do this game at a party, and it didn’t really work out like I thought it would.  I don’t know if people were playing without the required number of open bag spaces (eight) or someone was afk, but we ended up having seven winners from a tie.  This is fine if you can afford that many prizes (I gave them Winterspring Cubs), but just be aware.

We then voted on best dressed for the party, which was a prize of 500g.

After that, we did another new contest: Skinny-Dipping Diver Dueling.  The rules: Standing on the slope between shallow and deep water two toons will duel under water with no gear on.  Each player starts with eight points.  If any part of the player’s body moves above water during the duel, they lose one point.  The winner of the duel receives two points.  So the highest possible score overall is ten points.

The trick to this contest was making sure people were staying on the divider between the shallow and deep parts of the lake.  If they are not following that rule, it really isn’t as challenging.  We did have one winner with ten points, and he received the Mini Mount WOW loot card.

The last contest was a number-guessing-game based on the trap door located in the lake area.  The trap door has coordinates you can see when you scroll over it.  I have been told they are some kind of Lost reference, but I have no idea.  In order to hold this contest, you need to make sure the party takes place far enough from the trap-door that players will not be able to look at it.

This is a picture of it:

Coordinates for Contest

Everyone participating had to guess a number six times- one time for each trap-door number.  The first and second numbers were between 1-10, the third and fourth numbers were between 1-20, the fifth number was between 1-25, and the sixth number was between 1-50.  Another option for the answers could be for the judge to pick their own coordinates (if you think anyone has looked before-hand to see what the answers are).  The 500g prize went to the player with the most amount of winning guesses (closest number to the answer wins each time).

After all of this, the party moved to Vashj’ir to do the whale shark kill for the achievement.  We did this at last year’s party, but we decided to do it again for newer guildies who didn’t have it.

Casual/social horde guild <Radical Dreamers> on Eonar started a contest yesterday that is still open to anyone who wants to partcipate… the first person to level a toon to 85 wins!  The prize is 2000g PLUS fast flight!

Leveling Goblins

The GM toon is Ushiko, a Tauren Druid, “Dreamweaver” rank.  The guild’s name is after a song from the 80’s from an old game called “Chrono Trigger.” The ranks are named after other songs with the word Dream in it.  New members are “Little Dreamers” and the next step up, member 2 is “Day Dreamer,” while member 3 is “Dreamer;” all songs from different eras.  As for raiders…they are “Dream Raiders,” which is a song from an anime.

Minoah

The contest is being held to increase membership but also for a fun way to get new alts leveled.  The guild consists of 97 alts and around 20-25 actual members.   Many are female.  Guild level is very close to 10.  It has gotten that high very quickly, and they are hoping it will move on up just as quickly once we get more people in the guild.  According to officer Roseshadow, once you make 85 you are under no obligation to stay in the guild.  You can transfer to your favorite server, but they hope you will stay around.

Roseshadow

The rules are simple- your toon must be 25 or lower and you can use dungeon runs, PVP, or whatever gets you to 85 the quickest.  However, absolutely no BOAs nor recruit a friend can be used.  Enchants and gem are allowed.

There are also prizes for 2nd and 3rd place as well as all participants:
2nd place – A full set of 8 Raptor mini-pets
3rd place – A full set of Winter Veil pets
Participant – to be determined

Here are some names of contacts for the guild:
GM- Ushiko, Steerah, Minoah
Officer Roseshadow, also Angel
Officer Maev and many other toons including Ripcar
Officer Cookie- Evilcookie, Mootherudder, Oreo and Cookies
Officer Moo

Good luck Dreamers!

Here are the contest specs that were sent out to the contestants:

Enter a transmog outfit you think looks the coolest.  Pretty simple right?
The contest will be judged on:
Items Used- mixing tier with non-tier, colors mixed together, over all look- 50%
Screenshot submission- creativity, location, etc- 50%
My vote will count for 50% and the readers’ votes will count for the other half.

The contestant prize is a WOW item donated from etsy.com shop, DaintyCreations!
Custom WOW Coasters with their character- Value $20

Sponsor Dainty Boutique is a small shop featuring a variety of handmade gifts. The owner besides crafting enjoys playing WoW, she has a few level 80s. And her main is a BE Priest. She plays on Bleeding Hollow and Terrokar.

I will also be rolling a random number in WOW for a reader comment prize, which will be a rare WOW Loot Card called Grim Campfire!  (value $15-20) Yes, you can win too!

SO… the blogger nominees are:
1) KIRINA’S CLOSET

Swamp Thang

Kirina Used:
Big Voodoo Mask
Ymirjar’s Physician’s Robe
Mantle of Autumn
Overcast Boots, Gloves, and Belt

Kirina says: The Physician’s Robe immediately made me think of a female “creature from the Black Lagoon”, and so I focused on a outfit primarily green and brown to go along with that “swampy” theme. I found that the Mantle of Autumn really accents the colors in the robe – while they aren’t green like the druid-only Cenarion Spaulders, the golden leaves of the Autumn mantle bring out the darker brown/tan colors in the robe. The Big Voodoo Mask  was added just to be “scarier”…and, it was really the only leather helm I could find that was obtainable for Kirina while still matching the spirit of the outfit.

2. KAMALIA ET ALIA

Newsies Look

Kamalia used:
Hood of Lost Solitude
Murkblood Shoulderguards
Raptor-Hide Harness
Rigid Belt
Expedition Pants
Runic Leather Gauntlets
Mosshide Boots
Tuxedo Shirt

Kamalia Says: I’d been intending to put together an outfit based around the Hood of Lost Solitude, a leather quest reward item from Twilight Highlands that reminds me of a military-style cap, for some time now. In contemplating what sorts of outfits I might make, it occurred to me that this hat might make a good newsboy cap.

Also: Like the Dress Shoes, these boots disappear on races that don’t wear shoes and look like plain black shoes on races with human-like feet.
I also considered using the Runic Leather Vest/Cow King’s Hide as an alternate chestpiece.

3. Effraeti’s RP

Shammy Power

Effi Used:
Crown of Destruction
Merciless Gladiator’s Ringmail Spaulders
Brutal Gladiator’s Ringmail Armor
Brutal Gladiator’s Ringmail Gauntlets
Guardian’s Ringmail Girdle
Feltooth Eviscerator
Triptych Shield of the Ancients

Effraeti says:  Somewhat inspired by the Firelands (T12), but mainly built around the Cataclysm (T5) set shoulders (which I bought the PvP replica of).  Shamans are elemental based, and I thought the look of fire was most impressive (and I love that helm).  My preference would be the Earthshatter (T3) set, but alas, I did not play in Vanilla.

TO COMMENT: Please only vote for ONE contestant… comment with two numbers- one number between 1-10 for the overall look and another number between 1-10 for the screenshot.  (10 being the highest)

Example Comment: I like Kirina the best because…xyz.  I give her a score of 8/7.

DEADLINE TO COMMENT ON THIS POST FOR ENTRY: DECEMBER 15, 2011!

JUDGING, ROLL, AND PRIZE NOTIFICATION WILL TAKE PLACE BY: DECEMBER 20, 2011… winners will be announced on this blog as well.

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY
VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW
MUST BE 18+ TO COMMENT/ENTER
IF ANY PRIZE IS UNCLAIMED, THERE WILL NOT BE A 2nd DRAWING

Every year I try to do a Halloween costume for WOW just for fun.  This year I decided to dress as Poison Ivy from Batman using this guide as a reference.

I wanted to do this costume previously but found it hard to get all the green items I needed.  So I have been saving up for the past year to make this costume.  I am entering it in Kirina’s Halloween Costume Contest on her blog.

Someone Stinks

Items Used:

Slime-Encrusted Pads
Grovekeeper’s Drape
Fangdrip Runners
Leggings of Concentrated Darkness
Serpent Gloves
Darkmoon Dirk
Red Rose
Hibernal Armor

Sinister Squashling pet

I also tried it with Scout’s Vest as the chest instead, but I did not enter this picture due to the no duplicates rule:

Sorry I haven’t posted lately… was sick in May.

One of my guild officers had an idea to have a contest where you post a screenshot of your toon next to any photo of you to see how closely you look the same.

The rules were- any photo could be used since you were born.  The toon had to be an existing main or alt, no level 1’s could be made for the contest.  No editing of photos of any kind.

Here are some examples of entries:

Gabrihell

Oreocookie

Here was the winner of 500g:

Epijunky

I entered even though I did not feel I looked like my toon.  It took me 30 minutes just to figure out how to copy two items to Paint!  Here was my smaller sized entry:

EK Guild Fishing Contest Event

On March 13, 2011, <The East Kingdom> held a guild fishing contest. Woot!

Fishing has never been something I wanted to do in game.  Not only is it an optional profession that you can mostly do without, it is just boring to me.  But I have known many including my husband who enjoy doing it from time to time.

I decided to revolve our fishing contest around the Stranglethorn Vale Fishing Contest, held every Sunday afternoon at 2pm server time.  So we met at Booty Bay a little before 2pm to check it out.

Fishing Quest Turn-in location

The quest givers are where we started… note they are repeating quests.  You can enter the contest more than once.   The goal of our guild contest was to be the first guild member to finish the STV requirement, which is fishing up 40 Speckled Tastyfish.  These are fished from pools around STV between 2pm-4pm server only.

Muriella was our first guildmember to 40 fish, and almost won the STV contest as well.  She probably would have if we had started at fishing locations instead of Booty Bay. 😦  So if you decide to do this contest, keep that in mind.  She finished in 25 minutes and won from the guild an Obsidian Hatchling companion pet.

Also, Wyldbyll, a late entry, caught a rare fish that gave him this reward: High Test Eternium Fishing Line. There are three kinds of rare fish you can catch from the pools during the contest time that give these kind of rewards.

Muriella Being "Griefed"

Note in this photo that opposing faction players will sometimes give you grief during the fishing contest.  Though on a PVE server, all this troll could do is try to steal from the same pool of fish.

Keep in mind, that not only is the guild fishing contest fun for some…it has its merits as well.  The STV contest is part of the Salty title if you win, plus you get rewards whether you win the STV contest or not… gold for each stack of five fish turned in can help out lower levels.

Was a fun event, although I think we had low attendance from people being burned out from fishing after the Seafood Magnifique guild achievement.
