Believe it or not, the Transmogolympics contest has come to an end!

I don’t think the host, JD Kenada, or the judges knew what they were getting themselves into a few months ago.  What started as a few WOW bloggers competing against each other’s transmogs ended up being 47 contestants and over 450 outfits.

The winners can be seen here.  Even more awesome is that JD has made a website just as an archive of this event (still in progress)!

Ok so here are pictures of my outfits from the last three categories that were featured:

FENCING (1h sword)

Pally set…or is it?!

This was the most frustrating outfit I had to make, mainly because my husband’s toon not only had full bags but also a full bank and full void storage.  I think I spent two hours sorting gear sets and deleting/DEing/selling anything possible. (he ended up having duplicates of several items)

I was really proud of myself with the finished result- this outfit looks like a matched set, but it is actually about 1/2 level 70 gear and 1/2 level 85 gear.  I finished it off with a weapon enchant and a shield off the auction house that matched.

The criteria for this category was “best use of a 1h sword,” but I did notice that all three medalists used a fencing-type-sword, not just any sword.

Items used for this paladin outfit: Brighthelm of Justice, Overlord’s Spaulders, Pillager’s Cloak, Breastplate of Fierce Survival, Gloves of Radiant Glory, Dragonfracture Belt, Legguards of Radiant Glory, Pillarfoot Greaves, Brutality Blade, and Stonewrought Shield.

FREESTYLE (Make up an NPC)

For Gnomeregan!

I got the idea in my head from the beginning that my NPC needed to be a musketeer.  Then I ended up only having a male gnome left as far as gender/race combinations that I had at a “decent” level (I actually had to level this toon to equip the crafted musket). I came up with this description, which I sent the judges:

A musketeer was an early modern type of infantry soldier equipped with a musket.  Musketeers were an important part of early modern armies. They sometimes could fight on horseback, like a dragoon or a cavalryman. The musketeer was a precursor to the rifleman.  The Gnomeregan musketeers are steeped in tradition. While technology for the gnomes and types of military fighting have both progressed, the musketeers prefer to guard their home in the old ways of gun and sword. Being a Gnomeregan Musketeer requires a code of honor and loyal service to their race.

This was the hardest outfit to put together gear-wise because I had almost no gear saved on this toon, and the toon was not even level 70 yet.  At one point I even got Model Viewer out just to figure out what gear I needed to go get.

I was a little bummed because I was not able to use the Gnomeregan tabard as part of my outfit since I was Gilneas faction (one of the rules).  I did find, however, a purple chest to represent one of the Gnomeregan colors.

This leather outfit included: Cabalist Helm, Stormshroud Shoulders, Cloak of Healing Rays, Vest of Vengeance, Wicked Leather Bracers, Mighty Gauntlets, Wanderer’s Belt, Bard’s Trousers, Sure-Step Boots, Dazzling Mithril Rapier, Fel Iron Musket, and White Tuxedo Shirt.

EQUESTRIAN (outfit matching a mount)

Kossuth with Tyrael’s Charger

This may have been my favorite outfit entered.  This was one of my lowest level toons used, but for some reason it came together really well.

The mail outfit uses the same gold, white, and blue/purple on the Tyrael mount.  I used: Bonelink Helmet, Crusader’s Pauldrons, Durable Cape, Lord’ Breastplate, Ornate Gaunlets, Lord’s Girdle, Myrmidon’s leggings, Lord’s Boots, Ebonclaw Reaver, and Bone Slicing hatchet.

Thanks for the contest guys!  It was really fun and gave me a reason to make more outfits for my blog!

Amateur Azerothian blog is holding another WOW blogger transmogging contest!  This time it’s the Transmogolympics!

Here are some of the details he provided:

To participate in the event, you’re required to make TEN outfits.

The first outfit is for the faction you are assigned to have a flag bearer and is not judged.  The other nine outfits are medal categories, which are:

  1. Archery – Build an outfit around your favourite bow.
  2. Cycling – Build a biker outfit to compliment the Chopper.  It must be either Leather or Mail.
  3. Discus – Build an outfit around one of the shield skins seen here
  4. Equestrian – Build an outfit to compliment one of the horse mounts in the game.  (Faction limitations apply, so no Orcs on a Stormwind pony)
  5. Fencing – Time for some swordplay.  Build your best outfit around the 1h sword of your choice.
  6. Javelin – Build an outfit around the polearm of your choice.
  7. Hammer Throw – Build an outfit around your favourite two-handed hammer.
  8. Wrestling – We’re going to deviate from olympic wrestling and go to the sports entertainment aspect instead.  Using one of the “championship” belts, design your own Azerothian pro wrestler.  Think of the oversized belts, such as the Firemend Cinch seen here.
  9. Freestyle – Build your own NPC. Could be an innkeeper, could be the Green Orc Lantern.  Doesn’t matter.

Other rules are:

  • There is NO limit on the number of participants.
  • 9 competition outfits.  At least 5 different races must be used, never repeating the same gender/race combo (if you use Blood Elf Male for Javelin, you can’t make a Blood Elf Male for Discus.  You could however make it female so long as you aren’t submitting a Blood Elf Female in any other event).  Your flagbearer combo may be used in a competition event.
  • Your event entry must be able to use the outfit as a proper end-game transmog (so no Gnomes in Shaman gear or Goblin Rogues entering the discus)
  • Include the gear you used for each outfit please (the judges can peg many articles from in-game, but can’t always tell what everything is).
  • All entries are to be submitted at once.  Send the screenshots to arcanewordsmith@gmail.com
  • As per Mog Madness, MogIt and ModelViewer entries are welcome.
  • We’ll reveal three events a week for three weeks, beginning August 12th.  Medals will be handed out accordingly.
  • I have set no criteria for fellow judges (still confirming who the official judges will be).  They will simply give their rankings based on their own thoughts.  However, they’ll not know who they’re voting on (it will be labelled as Outfit D, rather than “Tome,” for example).
  • The winner will have received the most medals in the nine events.

I balked at this contest at first…I mean that is a lot of outfits to come up with.  If I were just using my main and maybe a few of my alts, I would have them easy.  But so far that gender/race rule is killing me.

Most of my toons are female, and I have a lot of humans, nightelves, and draneis.  I had to really decide which human female I wanted to use the most because it would keep the others from being in the contest.  (and believe it or not, Chatmay will not be participating in this transmog contest!)

I do not have a female gnome toon, and all of my horde toons are level 20 or lower.  I like to make my outfits and screenshots in-game as much as possible, so I am struggling to get as many different gender/races as I can.  Plus I have spent a lot on transmog gear at the current jacked-up prices.

I also have NO worgen toons, and I was assigned Gilneas of all things as my faction.  So I pretty much HAD to use WOW Model Viewer to make my flag carrier.

I decided to make my flag-carrier a male worgen rogue.  The Gilneas tabard was required.  Every piece of gear he has on uses titles/names that I thought best portrayed the worgen race.

Check it out:

Proud Representative of Gilneas

Gear used:
Helm- The Wanderer’s Cover
Shoulder- Shadowskin Spaulders
Back- Juno’s Shadow
Chest- Vest of Dark Rumors
Bracers- Madwolf Bracers
Gloves- Half Truth Handlers
Belt- Bonechewer Pelt-Girdle
Legs- Wanderer’s Leggings
Boots- Footpads of the Fang

That is all I can post for now.  The nine category outfits have to be submitted all together, and we are not allowed to post them anywhere until the contest has been judged.

So wish me luck!

Our First Guild Legendary Dagger Party

Fangs of the Father, guild, guild party, legendary, rogue, warcraft, world of warcraft, WOW, Wrathion

We had already had a legendary staff party a few months ago, so we wanted to do something different last week for Sardine, our first guildie to get the legendary daggers.

The staff party was pretty easy because of the show that happens in Stormwind, but the dagger quest is soloed.  So we decided to put on a show of our own.  My husband wrote a comedic skit that takes place between Wrathion and Sardine.

During the skit, Sardine must defeat Chat’mog and the Crazy 88s.  We performed this fun part where the skit notes, pairing Sardine with a healer just in case (he had to win).  He took on the Crazy 88s first then Chat’mog, just like the movie Kill Bill.

We were going to hold the party in Gurubashi Arena in STV, but some of us were phased because of the Zandalari quests.  So we moved the party to Nagrand Arena.

Here is the text:

[Wrathion flys in]

[Rogue]: /e surprise

[Wrathion]: The Red Flight’s hero has arrived.

[Wrathion]: Just as expected.

[Wrathion]: You came looking for an egg. I bet you did not expect to see me here in its place. You should be ware of things you seek but don’t understand mortal.

[Rogue]: Well, not really. You see I was supposed to be looking for an egg, yeah. But the chick up there in the Highlands said something about it being over in Gilneas somewhere… and about some guy…

[Wrathion]: /e [Rogue] curious

[Rogue]: I think she was really wanting me to whack an ex or something… anyway… I was on my way over there.

[Wrathion]: /e impatient

[Rogue]: But, thinking about eggs made me hungry. And, this place was on the way. I really didn’t..

[Wrathion]: Yes, yes, yes. Very well. You’re here. And you have pointy things in your hands. I’m sure you’ll do what is necessary.

[Rogue]: For who?

[Wrathion]: For me.

[Rogue]: Huh?

[Wrathion]: Can you just shut up for a minute and let me finish?!

[Wrathion]: /e contempt

[Wrathion]: /e breath

[Wrathion]: As you know my father is none to pleased to know of my freedom.

[Rogue]: /e confused
[Wration]: /e @[Rogue] glare
[Rogue]: /e embarassed

[Wrathion]: But my freedom WILL remain. My father may be angry. He may be insane. He may be late in his alimony payments. But he is not afraid. And he should be… very.. VERY afraid.

[Rogue]: Of?

[Wrathion]: Of, the cost of gasoline. It’s going to be very expensive to burn down the world at these prices.. OF ME YOU IDIOT! WHAT DO YOU THINK?!

[Rogue]: Oh, I didn’t know.

[Wrathion]: Of course not. You’re just a pawn in this game.

[Wrathion]: But… while I have been here… holed up in this place… I have been plotting and devising. I have come up the means to my deliverance. The ultimate weapon against my father. And you will be the carrier of my weapon.

[Rogue]: Oh, no! I’ve already been to the priest and that was embarassing enough. I don’t want no part of any kinky stuff.

[Wrathion]: No, no. This weapon is not biological… although that is a good idea.. I haven’t thought of tha.. No, this is a weapon of steel and chaos!

[Rogue]: /e gasp An upgrade? Dude! Can I get Landslide on it?

[Wration]: Yes, a weapon upgrade. We can talk about the enchant later. But back to the subject.

[Wration]: In order to create this, I need you to gather materials for me. Things of difficult means and deadly consequences should you fail. There are still those of my kind… alive… and scheming. Servants of my father’s madness. With them there are objects that I may use to bind together… Objects that I task you to obtain. I will not be satisfied with petty thievery. Take them from the lifeless hands of my bretheren… the ones you shall slaughter in my name.

[Rogue]: That sounds like the hard way to do it..

[Wrathion]: Didn’t I say “Shut up?”! SHUT UP!!

[Rogue]: …

[Wrathion]: For your task…

[Wration]: *starts slowly pacing around*

[Wrathion]: You must first face the dreaded doer of evil Ch’at Mog and defeat her army of minions.. known by their feared name The Crazy 88s

[Rogue]: /e gasp

[Rogue]: Cool! So I get a Hanzo sword for all this? That’s the upgrade? Man! That’s awesome!

[Wrathion]: No, you will have other weapons. Daggers of legendary proportions bestowed into your lethal hands! These weapons will be the most feared objects in the history of this world! By weilding them you will become legend itself!

[Rogue]: But, a Hanzo sword would be soooo epic!

[Wrathion]: And my name is NOT Hattori Hanzo! You’ll get what I make and you’ll like it!

[Rogue]: I can use a sword though… Can you make one of those instead? I’ll go Combat spec. I really would…

[Wrathion]: I said NO! You’re getting the Fangs of the Father and that’s that!

[Rogue]: /e disappointed

[Rogue]: … Yeah, ok… but a Hanzo sword would be… you know… cooler.

[Wrathion]: WELL GO FARM UN’GORO OR THE AH! BEGONE FROM MY SIGHT!! Do not return to me until you have defeated the dread Ch’at Mog and her Crazy 88. I demand a tribute of her scruffy toe lint as part of the materials I need to craft your weapons.

[Wrathion]: I shall teleport you there. Be wary the Ch’at Mog is fierce… and looks even fiercer with all that mogging. Don’t be taken off guard.

(PVP battle with Chat’mog and the Crazy 88s)

…. later …..

[Wrathion]: So… you’ve brought the toe lint as I had asked…

[Wrathion]: …

[Wrathion]: …

[Wrathion]: And you’ve brought somes toes along with it.

[Rogue]: Yeah… sorry about that. It was kinda hard to see in there.. and blood was kinda all over the pl..

[Wrathion]: /emote pops a toe in his mouth for a snack.

[Rogue]: /e gasp

[Wrathion]: Tasty! I’d forgotten I skipped lunch.

[Wrathion]: Anyways, excellent work, yadadada, and all that good stuff. You’ve proven that a single skilled assassin can strike a decisive blow where a whole army may fail.

[Rogue]: Whopppee!

[Wrathion]: Yeah, ok, take your legendaries and get out of here already!

The end

Here are some screenshots of the event.
